Dulce et Decorum Est

The united states of american has lost many soliders in the war, and will keep on lossing them if we dont stop these. They have turn the death into an honorble thing; making it an honor to die for your country, when in reality it isnt solider dont decided to die for there coutry they have to because its the law to serve. Who would really want to end his or her life when they have just begun. I really admore them because if they werent there for us who would be there? But like this story states it it something they dont choose to do but they have to do.

The Guard at the Binh Thuy Bridge

A guard in a bridge is order to shoot everything that passes by, he see a women in a small boats get closer, he aim his gun at her and in a second react to what his doing. He drops his gun and can't believe what his doing he was about to shoot an innocent lady for no reason. I think a man behind a gun becomes a totally different person as if the power of a gun seem to take over people making them fell invincible. I dont know how we can decided in a split of a second shoot someone with out feeling guilty.

On Not Shoplifting Louise Bogan's The Blue Estuaries

A girl falls in love with book she find in the college book store, it's an ordinary book nothing special about it. Like every other college student we are all broke, that's where the dilemma starts when she thinks about stealing the book because she really wants it. The picture in the book of two white doves, represent to her purity which she think she would stain the moment she leaves the store with it. That is her conscious speaking out to her, we all have gone throw that stage where we want to do something that cant be either against the law. I think when we reach to the point of stealing something we end up lossing a part of ourself.

A noiseless Patient Spider

It is said that patient is a virtual, we tend to lose ourselves in society. When are soul get lost are bodies are of no use, It is said that spirit is what keeps us humans alive and are body moving. In A Noiseless Patient Spider we read about a human comparing his soul to a spider. In the sense of if he were more patient with his life, he wouldn'tÂ’t be lost, and would be able to enjoy things the way that spider does, just launching filaments and making webs. I can relate because lately I've have lost my patient in driving I've become an aggressivee driver. Time has converted me to a person i dont even know how to describe.

Fishin' 4 Religion

A guy radar go fishing and do nothing then to church. That something I can somewhat relate to, because I'm not a big fan of church I will be honest I remember when I was young I would fall asleep hearing the pastor talk and talk for about 2 hours. I wonder if that's a sin; I mean I believe in god and have read the Bible about 5 times in my hole life I know the story but why do I have to go to church to hear it when I can anytime I want I just have to pick up the Bible and read. Don't get me wrong I respect the church and would never talk bad about it in any way; I plan to get married in a church dress all in white one day. To me I just not fair for me to go on Sunday when I'm not feeling it, dont you think?

Revised Research

For the past couple of weeks I've gone back and fort trying to find information to do my research project on. Stigmata has been something I've been interested in sense I first watch the movie but I've been trying to look into it with no luck. I haven't been able to find much on it just what it is, I tried looking up cases of people to get a better understand but that hasn't help me much. So instend of going insane I decided to do it on something else, it was a coincidence that one night flipping the channels the movie JACK starting Robin William was on. Watching it made me want to look up if there was such a an aging disease. Let see if this works...

Rapture

In this poem the writer Galway Kinnell describes how he sees his women body. The way he describes every inch of her body as if he worships it. Could this poem be cause by the moment that inspired him to write. The human body is a beautiful thing that should treasure because its something that natures make in different way there is no two bodies that look alike not even in twin they always have something that distinguish them from the other. It's a beautiful poem, how would it be if you describe a mens body?

Homage to My Hips

Looking more in these poem I find out that Lucille Clifton is black; and has a little extra weight around her. In the poem she goes on to talk about a part of a women body which she controls, the hips. In the poem she manifest the hips as a celebration of beauty in our bodies, the confidence it bring to our lives because if we think about it our bodies introduce us when we first walk in a room. She tries to states that it doesn't matter what size you are, as long as you just work with out you got, because when people see that confidence you bring out they look at you in a different way.

Samuel

When we are young most of all tend to get out of hand especially boy, they joke around all the time and basically act like jerk mostly, when they around there friends trying to show off. There are people who take that type of behavior fine but other get annoyed. In these case the four boy happened to trigger a nerve in one of the citizens and he "accidental" pulled the emergency cord in the train, because the boys where joking around not in there sits. One of them lost control and fell head firstto be crushed up. Everyone has a dark side where situation make you bring out that bad side where you imagine yourself doing something to harm another person. We all tend to hold it in as just a mental picture in your mind but other loose that control and thats what happened in this story, they lost control.

Antigone

Antigone did want she felt was right; buried her brother so that his spirit could rest in peace. I mean family is the number one thing in everyone's life I believe. Which makes it a normal form of reaction, one would do anything for ones family. When you are passionate about something you want to accomplish, in the back of your mind you accept the consequence it will bring. If I was in the same position she was in I wouldn't care if I die because the love for family overcomes all the obstacles. I wouldn't be able to live with myself knowing i didnt even try to do something, and that must of been how Antigone felt.

O Brother, Where Art Thou?

George Clooney, John Turturro, and Tim Blake Nelson play the parts of Evertt, Pete and Delmar three friends who are fugitives that escape from prison and there journey. Everett the head of the group fools the guys by telling them that they are heading to recovered a buried treasure, which later we find out that there is no treasure, and that he just want to go back to his wife and 7 children before she marries again and losses her for good. When this movie first came out in the theaters it never really caught my eye, because its not my type of movie, but now that I so it. I was taught a lesson to never jugde something with out first giving it a try. In a funny way they have powerful themes like religion, racism, and change. Pete and Delmar both really believe in religion and when they were Baptist they believe that they were reborn again. We also have racisim where the sence of the Ku Klux Klan capture a men of color and try to burn him alive. It's a very good movie that i have to watch again.

My Favorite Movie

Stigmata a 1999 film is one of my favorite movies, it's with Patricia Arquette and Gabriel Byrne. It's about a normal girl who all of a sudden her body relives one by one the wounds Jesus suffered when he was crucified. It make you think and question what you believe in, because it makes sense what they state. I'm never really been a church person, going to church every sun and all to be honest. Example; in the bible Jesus saids that his everywhere and when one want to talk to him you only have to pray and he will be there listening, but at the church they say you have to come inside these building to get to him; that just doesn't make sense. Also the hole pope issue where they abuse of children, that seem to have been happening for years now and it didn't come out because it's been hided which is messed up. Because society have change dramatically this has finally come out in the open, and because of that same reason churches have change there form. It seems to be a business where they are fighting to get people attention. To conclude this movie just has open my eyes.

Pledging Allegiance

That picture give me a mix of emotions, because I'm going throw that process of becoming a citizen. When that day comes where I have to pledge and it's officially that am a U.S Citizen, it would be unbelievable. It's an undescribe feeling of knowing you are finally safe in this country and have no worries of being deported. One can breed at ease, becoming a citizen to me give me more oportunities to study and become someone. Giving my parents a better life, making them feel proud of me cause all they want is for me to suceed in life cause all they can give me is that. Holding that flag in my hand is getting closer and closer then ever. Crosses fingers.

Research Project

I have a topic in mind where I mite choose to do my research project I'm thinking on Religion, but not sure yet what exactly am going to do it on because it's a very controversial subject which has a lot of fields to choose from. My all time favorite movie Stigmata which is about a young woman is affected by mysterious wounds called Stigmata which are the wounds Christ received when they crucified him. Maybe comparing it to The Passion of Christ where they react that scene mite be an option. Or another subject could be on the battle between good and evil, in The Omen we see how evil win a battle to the good. Life in itself represent that, where day after day between the people living in this earth battle wiht each other. Maybe researching on this two idea i mite come to a conclusion which one to write on.

Hookups Starve the Soul

Laura Vanderkam essay on hookups is really something we are going throw right now where we see it in university, and with just everyone comming out of high. We can read clearly how she against it, how it just a physical connection between a guy and girl that only last one night. It seems that the the environment we are in now makes us have no time to have relationships, she states that this is killing us inside because the part we build with another human being are being missing out. The bond and feelings we have are overlooked cause we are taking it as just something that we look for when we need it.

Lou Jacobs Jr.

What Qualities Does a Good Photograph Have?

Lou Jacobs Jr talks about what photographers think when taking a picture but explain what they should notice when taking one so it can bring out more meaning. Taking a picture seem like nothing but could say more then words. A picture is a moment in life saved in on simple sheet that one can remember the rest of there lives. It's an art to me to capture something that everyone can relate to. To me taking a picture of a bear could mean the world to me while to others just ridiculous. He also states that taking a picture doesn't have to be plan out ahead of time in a bright day, the best picture have be taken without a notice under the rain, running around, and even in a store. What he said we should have in mind when seeing or taking a picture is the impact that moment will being out, human interest if people are involve the emotion , action he or she has is very important. Effective composition, spontaneity, lighting cause a dark day can represent sadness, destruction etc. Color, contrast, camera angle and choice of Lens, as well as imagination and creativity. Most of this thing make more sense to professional photographers then to normal people but this just said to me that taking a picture is more then just a click on the camera.

The Judgment of Solomon

From the Herbrew Bible "The Judgment of Solomon" is basically of two women who claim to be the mother of the same child. Both gave birth the same day in the same place but over night one of the new born died. In the morning one claim that the other exchange her baby with the dead one overnight. This was brought to the King to decided who the child will stay with, and he came up with an idea of cutting the child in half given both a part of him. What a solution, dont you think? At the end you find out that he did that on purpose, because he knew that the real mother woudnt let that happened. She would rather give her child away then kill it, and thats what happened. Its funny how life is, the extreme a person will go to. Lie to yourself, believe your baby is not dead and take another one like a game you just start over.

El Tonto del Barrio

"El Tonto Del Barrio," written by Jose Armas touched me. Is a story of how the village man is used to teach a lesson to the audience? It starts with Romero as "El Tonto del Barrio" meaning the dummy of the neighborhood, which with the help of his community he was able to function in the real world by sweeping the streets day after day. Romero gives the community character through his positive attitude, he always seemed happy you would always see him whistling or singing while he was sweeping the streets. For this the neighbors would always treat him with kindness, loyalty, and respect. But is it all ruin when his brother Seferino a college student tries to help him but instead turns Romero world upside down when he offered to pay him a wage for his work sweeping. A famous saying represents this story "when you try to give a man your hand they later want the whole arm". It's sad but true and this story represents what happeneds in life day after day. People never seem to be satisfy with what one gives them and that's what happened here, Romero later wanted a raised for what he did and that is where the problem began Seferino couldn't give him any more so Romero just quit doing what he got paid to do sweep. So things are better left alone.

Interpretation

Understand what the author is trying to say, known as Explication. Analyzing line by line the text something i never seem to quite very well intrepret, could it be beacause iam not reading the text correctly or because that is my own intrepretation of what he or she was trying to say. Is there a right or wrong answer? i wounder. Example, when we where put in groups and given a poem to define my interpretation of LONDON by Willaim Blake was the opposite of what the rest of my classmate came up with. I though it was about a women who had a disease and was passing it to everyone in the village and thats why everything was dark. I made this decision when he said " most through midnight streets I hear how the youthfull Harlot's curse". The sadness " In every cry of every man, In every infant cry of fear". In reality its about how one man depress see the world.

Literature...

What is Literature....

Literature is just a fancy way of saying it. Words are what define literature. I consider literature as a form of expression by either oral act or written down on paper. I would say it's one of the best way to let out stress. One can put our imagination to work and do what ever you want with anyone judging. To me there is no wrong way in writing, so one shouldn't go by a pre made format cause that just wouldn't be you. Great writers have expressed there feeling without actually saying it, they transform feeling and acts into things and make believe places. So anything can be define as literature example poetry, novels, history, biography, and essays. The differences between them is there form. My Literature has no form to go by, or right or wrong answer.

What is Art...

My Meaning of Art....

Art a word that varies in meaning. Its define as "the quality, production, expression, or realm, according to aesthetic principles, of what is beautiful, appealing, or of more than ordinary significance." To me the meaning of art is an unknown feeling, a sense of something out of this world In which you can't really define or put into words. It can be a painting, thing or something that attracks your attention and transport your mind. To everyone is not the same because we are all different and see thing in are own way. For example the expression on a moms face when they first see there first born child, there face light up and your hole world doesn't seem to matter at that point. Its the feeling they are going to at that moment which I consider an art. It's something in life you don't usually see.
In other moment when I see a painting or sculpture of something I could have never imagine how to bring to life. They call these "talent" which everyone is born with but some just learn how to perfect it. They create feelings into something we can see and touch. Like a puzzle we try to put together that takes us hours, days, months and up to even years to finish. When it's all finally done, it all made sense. This is the meaning of my art.
