Homage to My Hips
Looking more in these poem I find out that Lucille Clifton is black; and has a little extra weight around her. In the poem she goes on to talk about a part of a women body which she controls, the hips. In the poem she manifest the hips as a celebration of beauty in our bodies, the confidence it bring to our lives because if we think about it our bodies introduce us when we first walk in a room. She tries to states that it doesn't matter what size you are, as long as you just work with out you got, because when people see that confidence you bring out they look at you in a different way.
